For editors & peer reviewers

Send reviewed Word files back without your name on them.

Veil strips a reviewer's name, initials and timestamps from the tracked changes and comments in a .docx — in one click, right in your browser. The wording you wrote never changes.

Blinded
Three steps

Blinded in under a minute

No settings to learn and nothing to install. Drop the file, pick how much to hide, download the clean copy.

1

Drop your .docx files

Add one file or many. Your originals are never changed — Veil only makes new, blinded copies.

2

Choose what to hide

Number the reviewers, use one name, or keep names — and remove, spread, or keep the times.

3

Download & send

You get clean files ready to return to the author. Check the review pane in Word before sending.

Why Veil

Careful with your words, strict with identity

Built for double-blind peer review and editorial work, where one slip of a name undoes the whole process.

Nothing leaves your machine

Every file is opened and rewritten inside your own browser. No upload, no server copy, no cloud.

Your text is untouched

Only the name, initials and time on each change or comment are altered. Not one word you wrote is moved.

Reviewer 1, 2, 3…

Each reviewer becomes a consistent number across the whole file — tracked changes, comments and replies all match.

Hide the clock too

Remove every timestamp, or spread them over normal office hours, so no one can tell when you worked.

Several files in one go

Drop a whole batch. Veil blinds them together and hands each one back with a clear "(blinded)" name.

One fair price

A single membership, one device at a time. No per-file charges, no surprises.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Do my documents get uploaded anywhere?
No. Veil opens and rewrites each file inside your browser. The document never travels to us or to any server — only the finished, blinded copy is saved to your computer.
Does it change the wording of my review?
Never. Only the author name, initials and date on each tracked change and comment are altered. The text of your edits and comments stays exactly as written.
What exactly is hidden?
Reviewer names and initials on insertions, deletions, formatting changes and comments; the people list inside the file; the "last saved by" name; and the timestamps — removed or spread over office hours, as you choose.
Can I use it on more than one computer?
Your membership signs in on one device at a time. If you sign in somewhere new, the previous device is signed out — so your account stays yours.
Who is behind Veil?
Veil is made by Aluna Schrift Limited, a scientific editing company. It is the same anonymising step our editors use every day, now in your hands.
